I will try and make this as short as possible. Clubs get $250.00 a mile from the state to maintain trails. This includes ONLY THE DIRECT trail expenses (signs, gates, etc) as well as hours worked either brushing, signing or grooming. Repairs, fuel and any other expenses are not funded. There is another $500.00 a mile available which is called supplemental. The problem with supplemental is that if there is snow across the whole state, like this year, there isn't any or very little supplemental available as the clubs use up the "kitty" of $250.00/mile. Our club is already $30,000.00 into supplemental which we might not get and one of our groomers might have a bad engine. The dilema the clubs have is how far in the hole do you want to go before you call it a season? I think something has to be done by the state to insure the clubs get paid for the hours they work!!!

According to the Florence County Snowmobile Club (http://www.florencecountysnowmobileclub.com/) website:
The trail system today includes 140 miles of funded trails and approximately 180 total miles of trail.

Actual is 134.5 miles. Our Florence groomer is down for the season and we have been shuffling the other groomers around to try and get all the trails done.
